Tiger Woods’s ex-wife selling off diamond jewellery

Monday, October 25th, 2010

Elin Nordegren, ex-wife to Tiger Woods, is reportedly selling off diamond jewellery he gave her, including a diamond engagement ring.

The ex-wife of Tiger Woods is said to be auctioning off the diamond jewellery that was given to her by the golfer.

Elin Nordegren, who separated from Woods after he cheated on her, has reportedly asked auction house Sotheby's to set up the sale of the items, according to US celebrity website janetcharltonshollywood.

According to the Daily Express, among the items that will go under the hammer is an antique diamond engagement ring, as well as a set of diamond earrings with matching necklace.

Speaking to the newspaper, a friend of Ms Nordegren was quoted as saying: "The jewellery reminds her of the marriage and she is over that."

The auction could fetch as much as £1 million, with the diamond engagement ring said to be worth around £200,000.

Woods, who was on the losing side in the recent Ryder Cup, separated from his wife after admitting he had been unfaithful to her.

Diamond-studded saucepan a highlight of Moscow luxury event

Monday, October 25th, 2010

A diamond-studded saucepan worth €150,000 is one luxury item on show at the Moscow Millionaire Fair.

A saucepan studded with diamonds is one of the highlights of a luxury event currently taking place in Moscow.

The cooking utensil features 270 of the precious stones and is also decorated in 18-carat gold.

Priced at €150,000 (£95,316), the item was described by brand manager of manufacturer Fissler Natalya Oreshkina as ideal for "serving food beautifully".

It is approximately the same price as a Porsche Cayenne, but Ms Oreshkina argued: "A Porsche Cayenne turns into a pile of metal once it leaves the showroom. This is an investment."

Among the other luxury products on show at the Moscow Millionaire Fair is a range of skincare products that features packaging decorated with diamonds, as well as a glass piano.

Another unusual diamond-encrusted item to go on show recently is a bra from Victoria's Secret, which consists of more than 3,000 jewels and was modelled by Adriana Lima.

Bulgari Blue Diamond sets sales record

Friday, October 22nd, 2010

The sale of the Bulgari Blue Diamond - which fetched $15.7 million - has set a new price-per-carat record of $1.4 million.

A new price-per-carat record of $1.4 million (£889,962) has been set at the auction of the Bulgari Blue Diamond in New York.

The diamond jewellery, which was estimated to fetch in excess of $12 million, eventually sold for $15.7 million after five minutes of bidding involving three potential buyers at the Christie's event.

Designed in the 1970s, the ring consists of a 9.87-carat colourless diamond and a 10.95-carat Fancy Vivid blue diamond, which are becoming increasingly rare in the diamond world.

Only one in around ten million blue diamonds meet the grade needed to be called Fancy Vivid and Francois Curiel of the auction house noted the sale was "eagerly awaited" by buyers.

"The bidding opened with an $8 million bid from a client on the phone with Vickie Sek, Christie's Head of Jewellery for Asia," he observed, adding Ms Sek's client, a collector from Asia, ended up as the winner.

Speaking prior to the auction taking place, head of jewellery at Christies Americas Rahul Kadakia said the sale was expected to cause "a huge stir" among collectors around the world.

$2m diamond bra is “a work of art”

Thursday, October 21st, 2010

The diamond-encrusted bra that was on display at a recent New York event is a "work of art", it has been suggested.

Supermodel Adriana Lima donned the accessory – worth some $2 million (£1.3 million) – for lingerie company Victoria's Secret at a fashion show in the Big Apple, flanked by a team of security.

The Bombshell, as the bra is known, was designed in collaboration with Italian jeweller Damiani, contained more than 3,000 jewels and took over 1,500 hours to create, the Daily Mail reports.

Lima revealed her delight at having the opportunity to wear the piece of underwear, comparing it to a work of art, before adding: "I love diamonds – they're always a girl's best friend!"

The Bombshell is part of Victoria's Secret long-running Fantasy Bra line, with last year's model – the Harlequin – being worn by Marisa Miller.

However, the most expensive diamond bra designed by the company was donned by Gisele Bundchen at the 2005 event and was worth some $12.5 million.
