The Engagement Ring: A DiamondGeezer.com Speciality

Tuesday, June 12th, 2012

Buying an engagement ring is a challenging task and one that may seem impossible. Buying an engagement ring is a very special task, it’s the symbol & celebration of the future a couple will share together. An engagement ring traditionally holds a diamond or multiple diamonds and can also feature precious gems such as emerald or topaz. When buying a diamond engagement ring it is important to research & discuss the diamond cut, colour & clarity as these three factors will determine how brilliant your engagement ring is. Many people mistake the cut of a diamond for the shape when infact the cut is the lines cut into a diamond to reflect light & make it sparkle. The colour can vary from a ‘D’ all the way down to a ‘Z’ and ‘Z’ is the most yellow. A ‘D’ colour diamond is colourless & is the rarest, most beautiful colour grade to buy. The clarity references the natural internal flaws of a diamond, for example if a diamond had a clarity of ‘IF’ that is short for ‘internally flawless’, meaning there are no visible marks inside the diamond to corrupt light play which creates sparkle. Who said buying an engagement ring was simple?

DiamondGeezer.com are experts in creating the perfect diamond engagement ring & can help you every step along the way to choose an engagement ring that will make your partner weep not cry. Speak to a DiamondGeezer.com diamond specialist today & let us help you design & manufacture the perfect diamond engagement ring.

Four C’s ‘crucial’ when buying a diamond ring

Monday, October 18th, 2010

Cut, clarity, colour and carat all need to be considered when buying a diamond ring, according to one writer.

There are a number of things men need to take into consideration when picking a diamond ring to use in a marriage proposal.

Writing for the Province, Scott Hannah urged males to educate themselves on the four C's – cut, clarity, colour and carat – when selecting a precious stone.

"The bigger and better the diamond, the more expensive the ring will be," he observed, adding it is important to "strike a balance between size and sparkle".

Mr Hannah noted it is important to set a budget and do extensive research before picking the jewellery, adding finding out "what kind of a ring your girlfriend would like" and her expectations are important – something family and friends can help with.

His advice follows that of the Daily Mail, which stated size is not the only factor that needs to be considered when choosing a diamond, as colour and cut are just as important.

Men ‘must consider clarity’ when buying a diamond engagement ring

Monday, September 13th, 2010

One jewellery designer has offered a range of tips to men who are in the market for a diamond engagement ring.

There are a number of factors men need to take into consideration when picking out a diamond engagement ring for their other half.

This is according to jewellery designer Kimberley Selwood, who told the Aberdeen Press and Journal the clarity of the diamond should be prioritised over size.

"It's always better to get a great clarity and colour and compromise on size as the diamond will sparkle more and look bigger," she observed.

Ms Selwood also urged men to find a cut for the gem that suits the hand of their significant others, as emerald or marquise cuts suit slim fingers, while a princess cut is ideal for shorter hands.

"Buying an engagement ring shouldn't be a dash to the shops to find the biggest diamond for the budget," she advised, adding men need to take time with the purchase to ensure they "get the most for [their] money".

Earlier this month, an author writing for Lon's Article Directory stated mild detergent is the best substance to use for cleaning a diamond ring that has become dull.
