BULLION PRICES ROCKET and will effect wedding ring prices

Designer Wedding Rings
While generally lacking in confidence the financial markets maintain their interest and confidence in precious metals i.e bullion, driving up prices. This year we have already seen huge gains in the market prices of Platinum, Gold and perhaps the surprise star Palladium.

The DiamondGeezer.com metal buyers recommend couples, looking to secure their wedding rings, do so sooner rather than later to avoid further hikes in the speculative bullion market. Rememeber that the prices of bullion as a trading commodity are set twice a day in London & New York and new values, while not immediately passed on, are instantly reflected in the prices all jewellery manufacturers, including DiamondGeezer.com have to pay.

Watches are ‘growing in popularity’ this autumn

Friday, November 5th, 2010

Retailers have revealed that jewellery and watch sales have increased in the last four months.

Watches are doing well in the autumn sales, says an expert.

According to Retail Jewellery writer James Knowles, the monthly Distributive Trades Survey (DTS) has revealed that October was a good month for retailers, who saw an increase in sales for jewellery items – which may include sports watches.

Shop owners questioned by the Confederation of British Industry have witnessed growth for the fourth month running, recording an average of 58 per cent rise in trade in the last month.

The latest DTS also showed customers returning to the high street has given the industry more confidence, with 43 per cent of retailers expecting sales to rise again this month.

These figures follow recent findings from Gem Diamonds, which has seen a 25 per cent rise in jewellery sales, with much of the growth in popularity coming from the Far East.

It also reported that it has witnessed a 25 per cent price increase as demand continues to grow.

Zimbabwe minister criticises US over diamonds

Monday, October 11th, 2010

Gift Chimanikire has said the US can "go to hell" over its stance on diamonds mined in Zimbabwe.

One Zimbabwean minister has spoken out against the US over its attempts to block the African country from selling diamonds.

According to the Zimbabwe Independent, deputy mines and minerals development minister Gift Chimanikire has said the country can "go to hell".

"In terms of who we sell our minerals to, America cannot dictate to us the markets," he remarked, referring to the US's decision to block exports of diamonds from Zimbabwe under the Kimberley Process.

"Zimbabwe has the right to choose its markets," Mr Chimanikire stated in a speech to small-scale miners in Gwanda.

And he reaffirmed that this view was the official government position when asked whether his comments were his own personal opinion, raising concerns among miners that potential investors in Zimbabwe's diamond industry may be dissuaded as a result.

Moshe Mosbacher of the Diamond Dealers Club of New York recently said the US's position on Zimbabwean diamonds will improve confidence in the diamond industry and encourage growth in legal mining areas.

Diamond ring owners given cleaning advice

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

Water, mild detergent and a soft brush is all that is needed to clean a diamond ring, according to one writer.

Owners of diamond rings should regularly clean the items so as to keep them looking as good as new, it has been suggested.

The author of a piece published on Lon's Article Directory noted soaps, natural skin oil and general grime can all cause diamond rings to become dull over time.

According to the writer, no special chemicals are needed to restore a diamond ring to its original shine, as a bowl of water with mild detergent will help remove dirt from the item.

However, the individual advised those planning on cleaning their diamond ring to purchase a small brush with soft bristles – such as an eyebrow brush – to help get the item as clean as possible.

Once the ring has been rinsed, a lint-free jeweller cloth should be used to dry it, the author noted.

The cleaning tips could be useful for a growing number of people, as Professional Jeweller recently stated buyer confidence is returning to the market after retailers endured a mixed summer.
