Madonna ‘falls in love with diamond bracelet’

Thursday, November 18th, 2010

Madonna has her sights set on a diamond bracelet and jewels formerly belonging to the Windsor family.

Madonna has her eye on a diamond bracelet with a regal history.

According to the Daily Mail, the pop star was seen trying on items displayed at a private viewing of the Windsor collection at Sotheby's.

One exhibit the celebrity is rumoured to have taken a fancy to is an onyx and diamond panther bracelet, which is being showcased alongside jewels gifted by Edward VIII to his American wife Wallis Simpson in the 1930s.

Madonna is said to be directing a film about Edward's abdication and has had his famous jewels replicated for the movie.

In a New York auction of Bernard Madoff's possessions last week, the former financier's wife's 10.5-carat engagement ring was sold to a mystery bidder for $550,000 (£344,000) – the item changed hands alongside such valuables as a Steinway and Sons grand piano, various items of clothing and a pair of velveteen slippers.

Rare pink diamond sells for record £29m

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

A rare pink diamond has been sold at auction for a record-breaking £29 million.

British jewellery trader Laurence Graff bid over the phone for the precious stone, which went under the hammer at a Sotheby's event in Geneva.

Weighing 24.78 carats, the gem, known as the 'fancy intense pink' is now the most expensive jewel sold at auction, almost doubling the record set by the 35.56-carat blue Wittelsbach-Graff stone, which changed hands for £15.2 million in 2008, and was also purchased by the wealthy investor.

Mr Graff has reportedly named his new possession the Graff Pink and said his purchase was the most fabulous diamond he had ever seen in his career.

The jewel, currently set as a ring, first appeared on the market 60 years ago when it was bought from the renowned Harry Winston, and had remained in private collections ever since.

In a recent auction of jailed Bernard Madoff's possessions, an anonymous buyer took home the engagement ring the former financier had proposed with for $550,000 (£344,000).

Bernard Madoff’s watches go under the hammer

Friday, November 12th, 2010

Watches and other possessions that once belonged to Bernard Madoff will be going up for auction in New York.

The tycoon's wristwtches, jewellery, clothing and books will be going under the hammer after the millionaire was sentenced to 150 years in prison in June this year.

Madoff was found guilty of a Ponzi scam that swindled wealthy investors out of billions of dollars.

Items set to go on sale include a collection of watches, a Steinway piano, embroidered slippers and various items of jewellery.

The auction is due to take place at the Sheraton hotel in the city this weekend and will be the second public sale of the former financier's possessions.

Recently, the US government took possession of a 43-carat diamond worth £12.5 million following a fraud investigation.

Officials have planned to put the so-called Golden Eye stone up for auction to raise money to fund the law enforcement organisations that were involved in the operation.

James Caan

DiamondGeezer.com were delighted to welcome James Caan, famous for Dragon’s Den but also a very well respected business financier, to their offices in Bourton-on-the-Water on the 1st. July (2009). James was there to film the ‘where-are-they-now’ version of Dragons’ Den for series 7 of the hit BBC show which will be aired by the BBC in the Autumn. Clive Billing, DiamondGeezer.com founder and owner famously turned down the highest ever offer made by the Dragons, Peter, Theo and James, because ‘they wanted too much of his established family business’.

During the course of the day’s filming Clive and co-director, son Luke presented James with a stunning diamond set palladium Dragon lapel pin. Michael-John, DiamondGeezer.com’s resident cad-cam designer used the company’s cutting-edge computer-aided-design technogly to take Diamond Geezer Clive’s dragon concept to new heights . Then the inimitable traditional skill-set of DiamondGeezer.com’s jewellery craftsmen bought this stunning piece to life . James a self confessed lover of bling was delighted with his diamond-set Dragon pin and seemed sure that it would attract the envy of the other Dragons, which seemed to hit the spot.
