Women’s big watches ‘look chic over sleeves’
Thursday, November 11th, 2010
Big watches look great when worn over clothes like large bracelets, according to one fashion expert.
Writing for Jewellers Circular Keystone, Cynthia Sliwa advised women to wear their watches on the outside of sleeves.
Bracelet-style watches, she said, can be worn the same way as In Her Shoes star Cameron Diaz did when she was photographed for Harper's Bazaar this year sporting a designer trouser suit and a non-adjustable timepiece over gloves.
Ms Sliwa also mentioned a model pictures in Lucky magazine this September, who was captured wearing a purple cashmere jumper with a leather-strapped watch fastened over the cuff.
"The look of wearing a watch or bracelet 'over' is so chic that it is employed with wristwatches with leather straps, which of course are adjustable," she observed.
This fashion news follows a report by James Knowles for Retail Jewellery, who noted October's Distributive Trades Survey suggests watches are growing in popularity.
