Pop singer Jessica Simpson has revealed that her fiance hid her engagement ring in a shoe before he popped the question.

According to Us Magazine, the singer, in an interview on US radio channel Sirius XM, said that her husband-to-be, NFL player Eric Johnson, had concealed the before going down on one knee – and had pre-warned her family, including younger sister and pop star Ashlee Simpson-Wentz.

She also revealed that he made her pause the television programme she was watching at the time but was insistent that he showed her something when she complained.

Johnson revealed a diamond and ruby engagement ring estimated to have cost in the region of $150,000 (£96,000).

This week, tennis star Anna Kournikova sparked wedding rumours after she was photographed wearing a diamond band on her ring finger upon leaving a restaurant in Los Angeles with her long-term boyfriend, Enrique Iglesias.

American tattoo artist and television personality Kat Von D has been spotted with a diamond ring on the all important finger, hinting at a possible engagement, it has been reported.
