Television star couple Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo are set to marry after the singer presented his girlfriend with an engagement ring.

Vanessa Minnillo is wearing an engagement ring after Nick Lachey went down on one knee, according to reports.

The former Newlyweds star, 36, proposed to his 29-year-old girlfriend with an Asscher-cut diamond ring with diamond baguette detail.

Us Magazine quoted a source as saying that the pair are "thrilled".

In a statement, the couple said that they were looking forward to a "wonderful future together".

Actress Minillo was born in the Phillipines and has starred in a number of US television shows, while Kentucky-born Lachey found fame singing with the boyband 98 Degrees.

The couple have had their share of ups and downs, as Lachey went through a highly publicised divorce from singer Jessica Simpson, who he starred with on the MTV series Newlyweds, in 2006.

Recently, tennis star Maria Sharapova received a diamond engagement ring from her LA Lakers player fiance, Sasha Vujacic – the item is estimated to be worth $250,000 (£156,000).

Will Smith's musical daughter was gifted the bejewelled support by the US television legend on her Monday show after performing her new single, Whip My Hair.

Degeneres reportedly gave the starlet the present because of her energetic dance moves.

The former actress remarked: "Because you have such great style, I want to make sure that if you do hurt your head … you can wear a neck brace, so there you go."

Ms Smith apparently explained that the dance routine can hurt your neck if you haven't warmed up properly.

Ten year-old Willow Smith, the daughter of film star couple Will and Jaka Pinkett Smith and sister of Jaden Smith, performed her acting debut alongside her father in 2007's I am Legend .
