THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW
Many of our wedding rings come in two weights 'LUXURY' and 'PREMIERE'. There is no difference in quality merely the depth of the ring and therefore the amount of metal used. EG our 3mm LUXURY court rings are 1.8mm deep where as the heavier 3mm PREMIERE is 2.3mm thick.
Most of our wedding rings are SPUN rather than CAST and that does mean improved quality.
We do not make 'LIGHT' or 'MEDIUM' weight wedding rings, our wedding are all 'HEAVY' weight. Our wedding rings are hand-finished and made for life. All measurements, except for finger size are approximate.
WEDDING RINGS
A wedding ring or wedding band is a precious metal ring worn to symbolise the marriage state. In certain countries (UK, USA, Brazil) it is worn on the base of the left hand ring finger. However, in most other parts of the world, it is worn on the right ring finger (e.g. Norway, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Germany, Poland or Russia). A spouse wears a wedding ring to indicate a marital commitment to fidelity. The European custom of wearing such a wedding ring has spread widely beyond Europe.
A wedding ring is most often a plain band made of a precious metal - most often platinum, yellow gold, white gold and we are please to offer Palladium and Titanium options.
In many parts of the western world the wedding ring is part of a series of ring gifts which also may include the engagement ring, traditionally given as a betrothal present, and before the eternity ring which symbolizes the renewal or ongoing nature of a lasting marriage, sometimes given after the birth of a first child.
Many couples chose to engrave the wedding ring with the name of one's intended spouse and the date of one's intended marriage on the inside surface, adding to the symbolism and sentimentality of the wedding rings as they become family heirlooms.
In some European countries, the wedding ring is the same as the engagement ring and changes its status through engraving and the change of the hand on which to wear it. If a woman wears both an engagement ring and a wedding ring there are different interpretations as to how they should be worn. One states that the woman wears the wedding ring below the engagement ring, thus making it closer to the heart. Another practice holds that the woman should wear the wedding ring above the engagement ring, thus sealing the engagement into the marriage. Others prefer that the wedding ring should be worn alone.
In the United Kingdom and the United States in past generations, women wore wedding rings much more commonly than men did. Today, both partners often wear wedding rings, but where occupations or professions forbid or discourage the wearing of jewellery (as in the cases of actors, police, military pilots and electrical workers), either marriage partner may not wear a wedding ring.
